Rijiyar Zaki,Kano [16th March 2024] – The atmosphere was electric at the New Star FC pitch as football enthusiasts from Rijiyar Zaki and beyond gathered to witness the opening match of the Dromeda Sports Club Ramadan Invitational Cup Football Tournament.
The six team tournament features top clubs in Kano invited to participate for free with a chance to win cash totalling N130,000 and other prizes.
In a friendly and spirited match, Dromeda FC took on the home team, showcasing their skills and determination to impress their supporters. The game saw early excitement with the home team coming close to scoring on multiple occasions in the first half.
At the 33rd minute mark, Dromeda FC seized the opportunity with Uche converting a penalty kick to take the lead. The team’s star player, Precious Uchenna Eze, secured a brace in the 79th minute, earning him the title of the match’s top performer and the coveted Man of the Match award.
With this victory, Dromeda FC leads the six-team tournament with 3 points and a goal difference of (+2), setting the stage for an exciting competition ahead.
In the post-match day 1 conference, Shamsudeen Umar Kaballo, Vice coach of New Star FC Rijyar Zaki, graciously acknowledged their performance, expressing optimism for their remaining matches. Mustapha Sheikh Muhammad, technical adviser for Dromeda FC, extended gratitude to the organizers and expressed eagerness for future competitions.
Welfare officer Dromeda SC Muhammad Mujib, affectionately known as Malanta, expressed delight at the success of the inaugural event and hoped for its continuation in the future, emphasizing the community’s united love for the sport and its potential for growth and development.
Match 2 Report: Dromeda Ramadan Cup Invitational Tournament
In a captivating clash on match day two of the Dromeda Ramadan Cup, Turbo Touch of BUK squared off against Clever Warriors of Kofar Na’isa. The encounter commenced promptly at 5:00 PM amidst calm and breezy weather, setting the stage for an exhilarating showdown.
The initial exchanges saw both teams locked in a midfield battle, with scant opportunities created in the opening 12 minutes. However, it was Clever Warriors who broke the deadlock in the 20th minute, courtesy of Mahmud Junior (Jersey number 11), who capitalized on an assist from Na small (Jersey number 14).
Turbo Touch’s defensive efforts were tested, resulting in a yellow card for Muller (Jersey number 5) in the 25th minute for a critical foul to thwart Clever Warriors’ attacking threat. Despite their efforts, Turbo Touch trailed by a solitary goal at halftime, with Clever Warriors holding a 1-0 advantage.
The second half witnessed renewed vigor from both sides, with Turbo Touch making three substitutions early on, while Clever Warriors introduced two fresh faces. The intensity of the game escalated, with Turbo Touch eventually finding the equalizer through Jibril Zakari (Jersey number 17) in the 55th minute.
The momentum shifted in Clever Warriors’ favor following the equalizer, as they launched a barrage of attacks from various areas of the pitch. However, resilient defending from Turbo Touch thwarted their advances. With twenty minutes remaining, Turbo Touch made two additional substitutions to inject fresh energy into their lineup.
Tensions flared as the match approached its conclusion, with Jibril Zakari (Jersey number 17) of Turbo Touch receiving a yellow card for dissent towards the referee. Clever Warriors’ Auwalu Bala (Jersey number 9) also found his name in the referee’s book for a holding foul on Turbo Touch’s player.
In the dying moments of the game, Clever Warriors came agonizingly close to reclaiming the lead, only to be denied by inches. Despite their relentless efforts, neither team could find the decisive breakthrough, culminating in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
