Deputy Senate President, Dr. Barau I. Jibrin, has donated new motorcycles to players and officials of Barau Football Club.
The distribution took place on Sunday, 20 October 2024, in Kano.
Earlier in June, Dr. Barau promised motorcycles to celebrate the team’s promotion to the Nigerian National League (NNL).
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi, Dr. Barau said the motorcycles will ease movement and improve the welfare of the club. He reaffirmed his commitment to making the club self-reliant.
“This is just the beginning. By Allah’s grace, he will continue to support self-reliance programs,” said Abdullahi.
Barau FC Chairman, Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, thanked Dr. Barau for his dedication to the club and football development in Kano. Najib Yusuf, speaking on behalf of the players, expressed gratitude and pledged his commitment to the team.
The event was attended by Shawwal Barau Jibrin, the club’s president, Kabiru Ado Lakwaya, Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, and Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji, Managing Director of North West Development Commission (NWDC). Thousands of supporters and well-wishers were also present.
